Dr. Archie Holmes
Dr. Archie Holmes, an assistant professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been using technology-enhanced learning since he joined UT-Austin in 1997. In collaboration with Dr. Rebecca Richards-Kortum, a series of lectures outlining DC circuit analysis techniques were made available to students via the Internet http://utwired.engr.utexas.edu/ee302videos (must use Internet Explorer). Currently, Archie is involved in two projects. The first one involves using hand-held devices in a large (60 student) classroom environment with equipment supplied by Hewlett-Packard. The other is the development of a web-based delivery system for supplemental instruction in EE 302, Introduction to Electrical and Computer Engineering. Archie believes that the main benefits of technology-enhanced learning are, delivering content to a student in an as-needed basis and then being able to review the progress of the class as a whole and each student individually.
